This year under the leadership of Somesh, we once again achieved President’s Distinguished Status with all 10 goals by December.
We had an exceptional year with our educational awards with 34 levels lodged, 15 of those being Level 1’s by our new members. We also welcomed 18 new members into the Canning Vale Toastmasters family.
During Somesh’s reign as President we also achieved the Talk Up Toastmasters Award for adding 5 new members in the months of February and March. This is the eigth time we have achieved this accolade from Toastmasters International.
During the year we had another successful Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings, lead by Eloyise. We shared the day with the members of our Sister club Harrisdale Piara Watrers Toastmasters and had loads of fun filling buns and selling drinks
We had 2 brilliant outdoor meetings in the summer months at Pedro’s home, with a Brazilian theme and at Sonal’s home, with an Indian theme. We are grateful to them both for opening their home to us.
We celebrated our 16th birthday with a green and silver theme in March 2024 with some of our past members in attendance.
It was fantastic to have a District Quiz Night again this year and our amazing team finished second to the team from Harrisdale Piara Waters Toastmasters.
This night was the prelude to our first face to face Conference for several years and we had a 7 members attend the weekend where we had outrageous moments of fun, sharing and celebrating. In the Table Topics Contests, Robyn finished 2nd with her answer to the question, Australia is often called the lucky country, So you agree or disagree? Robyn’s answer gave us insight into her life as a child being chased by the local policeman when she wagged school, to how she feels we are over regulated today.
We attended 2 Area gatherings organised by our Area Director, Frank. In the summer we had a picnic at the Kent Street Weir Park and in June we had great fun learning to play Lawn Bowls at the Gosnells Bowling Club. These were both a huge success with many members attending and of course, sharing delicious food, frivolous fun and joyful connections.
Sharing these social occasions is a big part of our success. Congratulations to all our members for your part in making our club the leader in the District. Let’s keep working towards another sensational year in 2024-2025.
