Meet our TMOTY 2025-2026 Ashlyn Poole

Congratulations to our 2025-2026 recipient for CVTM Toastmaster of the Year, Ashlyn Poole.

On Tuesday 7th July we awarded Ashlyn with this prestigious award. Our TMOTY is someone that goes above and beyond within and for the club – someone that regularly attends meetings, volunteers for the agenda, serves in formal and informal club roles, and attends events outside our club meetings.

Ashlyn has been a member since March 2024 and very quickly became our VPPR. Her work on promoting our club and members achievements has gone a long way to see the growth in our club membership to over 40 members now. She has also been a big help to the District by helping out with Public Relations strategies and also helping train the VPPRs during Club Officer Training.

Personally we have seen a big change in Ashlyn’s communication skills and now in her leadership. We are all so proud of her growth as a speaker and leader.

My toastmasters journey started in August 2014. I was referred to toastmasters by a mentor when I expressed a desire to improve my public speaking skills. I was always confident talking to people but when standing up in front of a crowd I would always blank on what I was meant to say. I've been a member of Canning Vale Toastmasters since September 2023, Over time, I’ve stayed motivated by the progress I've seen in my public speaking and leadership skills, as well as the sense of community within the club. The club has had a big impact on my life. In my personal life, I’ve become more confident in social interactions, while in my professional life, I’ve learned how to express ideas more clearly and effectively. My favourite part of Canning Vale Toastmasters is hearing unique stories from people in your community. The club is so diverse in ages, backgrounds, professions and skills that you learn something new each and every meeting. My other favourite part is how quickly you see yourself and others improve; even if you don’t speak at a meeting, you still learn how to improve by watching others and listening to evaluations.
