The Table Topics & Humorous Speech Contests have been run and won with Mike Palmer winning both contests. The Table Topics Contest was first up with the topic, “I Always Wanted To Be…” Mike told us that he always wanted to be a Forest Ranger, even though he hates living in the country and now sells houses in suburbia.

The Humorous contest was very enjoyable with 4 hilarious speeches. Mike’s winning speech was all about his bad back and how he hurt it in a mountain bike accident? or was that picking up his sons school bag?. Peter Jordan told us about his exploits in the goldfields trying to detect gold and digging a thousand holes looking for it, only to find it was his steelcaps he was detecting. Dave gave us advice on using Google to good effect and then took us to one of his business meetings where his Toastmasters skills are desperately needed. Chandana told us all about how we can keep our marriages exciting and then explained that his wife wears her ring on the wrong finger because she married the wrong man!
