The Leadership Excellence Series

Toastmasters International’s The Leadership Excellence Series is a set of presentations addressing the
subject of leadership. Members will learn about the skills they will need to be successful leaders
inside and outside of Toastmasters.
Presentations in The Leadership Excellence Series may be offered by any club member and require
10 to 15 minutes to present.

These workshops consist of four parts:

  • Definition and explanation of the presentation
  • Guidelines for your introduction to the audience
  • Outline for the development of your speech
  • PowerPoint presentation

The Visionary Leader

“The Visionary Leader” discusses how leaders create and communicate a vision for their organization to help it be successful.

Developing a Mission

“Developing a Mission” discusses how successful leaders create and cultivate an organizational
mission that defines the organization and guides its members and/or employees to attain their
goals and objectives.

Values and Leadership

“Values and Leadership” discusses values and the need to ensure the alignment of a team’s and
leader’s values in order to achieve a goal.

Goal Setting and Planning

“Goal Setting and Planning” discusses the processes leaders use to set goals and develop plans to
achieve those goals.

Delegate to Empower

“Delegate to Empower” discusses how to effectively assign tasks and responsibilities to team
members.

Building a Team

“Building a Team” discusses how to select and work with a team.

Giving Effective Feedback

“Giving Effective Feedback” discusses how to provide effective performance feedback to team
members, and how to recognize positive performers.

The Leader as a Coach

“The Leader as a Coach” discusses how leaders can help their teams improve performance by applying specific principles and techniques.

Motivating People

“Motivating People” discusses how to create and maintain an environment in which team members
will become motivated.

Service and Leadership

“Service and Leadership” discusses how leaders serve others by offering their knowledge and skills
to help others achieve a goal.

Resolving Conflict

“Resolving Conflict” discusses why conflict occurs and what a leader can do to resolve it.
