My toastmasters journey started in August 2014. I was referred to toastmasters by a mentor when I expressed a desire to improve my public speaking skills. I was always confident talking to people but when standing up in front of a crowd I would always blank on what I was meant to say. My favourite part of Canning Vale Toastmasters is hearing unique stories from people in your community. The club is so diverse in ages, backgrounds, professions and skills that you learn something new each and every meeting. My other favourite part is how quickly you see yourself and others improve; even if you don’t speak at a meeting, you still learn how to improve by watching others and listening to evaluations.
