Our first Speechathon

On Saturday February 23rd, 2013, Canning Vale Toastmasters held its first Speechathon.

The meeting began promptly on time and we heard a dark story of the future from William where there is only 1 police car and no police, Michele gave praise to Margaret who suffered terribly with MS while fighting for euthanasia, Chnadana had us in tears as he told about his Sister’s plight in the bombing of the bank where she worked in Columbo, Robyn lifted the mood with a humorous speech about Chinese Chicken before we had a supper break with cheese, wine and chicken (not Chines though).

The second half of the meeting got underway with a fun speech from John Palmer in which he wove a music history lesson as he demonstrated dance styles through the years. I loved his Charleston! Mark then gave us a few money saving tips for wedding planners and Emma rounded out the night with some fabulous Table Topics which had us completing sentences about music, what your Mum always said, dark, stormy nights, why we need to read the instructions, what John does at 10.20am on Wednesday and what happened to Chandana as he drove down the freeway. Mark then tricked Emma by giving her a Table Topic as well and this was where we found out that she just knew it was going to be a fantastic day.

We had lots to be happy about as we parted ways. It truly was a Special Meeting.
