Table Topics & Humorous contest results

Canning Vale’s contests for Table Topics & Humorous speech has been run and won. After 2 weeks of fantastic competitions we have our 2 representatives that will go on to the Area final on the 16th Oct. Kuranja in the Table Topics & Peter Jordan in the Humorous.

Contest Chair Phyll Lightbody, TT contestants – Diana Veitch, Kuranja, Chandana, John Palmer, Fiona Mclean, Graham Watson

Phyll Lightbody was our contest chair. Phyll’s topic was “Tell us about your most remarkable achievement” and all six contestants gave a different and emotional answer. Our winner, Kuranja, told us how one little conversation with a friend inspired him to step up & out of his life to aspire to be what ever he chose to be and allowed him to dream. Diana told us about the “little gems” that are remarkable to her in her nursing life such as patients who’s lives she touches. John was enthusiastic about beating his son, Mike, in the International speech contest a few years ago and going on to compete in the District Final in Melbourne. Fiona gave us some insight into her parenting skills, Graham enlightened us about being a conference chair with 13 people on his commmittee and Chandana awed us by relating his story of having to reduce his department from 21 to 7 by inspiring his colleagues to take an opportunity rather than the sack.

Our winners – 3rd Diana, 2nd John P, 1st Kuranja

On the night our VPM, William Placanica crowned our 100th member to the club, Leo XiuPing
